Oliver Burke wants to stay at Celtic permanently

Oliver Burke is eyeing up a long-term stay at Celtic, as he looks to settle down in his career.

Despite only being 21, Burke has already enjoyed spells at various clubs, including Nottingham Forest, RB Leipzig and West Brom.

The forward joined Celtic on loan in January and has settled nicely under Brendan Rodgers, excelling for his new temporary club.

He is clearly enjoying his football again, prompting him to talk up a permanent stay at Parkhead:

I’ve experienced different opportunities and countries, and it’s been fun but I want to be settled and find a club where I’m happy and enjoying my football. I got sick of the whole moving around thing.

I know this is a loan at the moment, it’s going really great, so we’ll see what happens.

I’m enjoying myself at Celtic, I really like it here. I think it’s a great club with great team-mates who have made me feel welcome.

Not only that, we’re doing really well on the pitch as well and creating a chemistry that’s working. Long may it continue.

I’m just a happier boy now that I’m playing football. Every day I’m happy and I’m getting up really excited to come in and train and see the boys.

It’s been a really big boost for me after being starved of football for a while now.

Huge things were expected of Burke from an extremely young age – something he struggled to cope with.

He remains a raw talent who should only improve, however, and Celtic will surely consider signing him at the end of the season.

Much of that will depend on how he performs between now and May, but the current signs are undoubtedly positive.

Burke will next be in action on Wednesday night, when Celtic host Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership.
