Celtic made it six wins from six in 2019 as goals from Ryan Christie and Oliver Burke pushed aside a valiant Hibernian team.
The visitors began the game with a very high press with Celtic forced to move the ball quickly in their own half.
Timothy Weah came close to opening the scoring as he very nearly slipped the ball under Marciano after a good ball from Callum McGregor.
On his first home start, new signing Jeremy Toljan impressed with his attacking play and assisted Ryan Christie for the opener with a nice cut back before the midfielder drove the ball into the far corner.
In the second period, Dedryck Boyata should have doubled the Hoops lead with a close range header but a superb block by the Hibernian ‘keeper kept his side just one goal down.
After 63 minutes, Oliver Burke grabbed his third Celtic goal. Rolled the Scot through and his driven shot looped into the net via a deflection off Darren McGregor.
The game fizzled out after Emilio Izaguirre was stretchered off after a nasty looking tackle, however Brendan Rodgers says it may not be as bad as first feared.
Here’s how we rated the players after another three points at home.
Scott Bain: 6
Still yet to concede a goal post winter break and was barely tested again tonight.
Saw a couple of rare passes go astray but overall his distribution was good.
Jeremy Toljan: 7
His attacking energy was a delight to see in place of Lustig and almost played like a winger throughout.
Dedryck Boyata: 6
Fairly comfortable return to the side for the Belgian but should he grabbed a goal with his close range header.
Jozo Simunovic: 7
Another good defensive display at the back with a couple of key tackles and interceptions.
Emilio Izaguirre: 6
Defending well throughout but lost possession a lot in the first half.
Hopefully his injury won’t be as bad as it looks.
Scott Brown: 8
Another great display from the captain as he controlled the pace of the game from deep and recovered the ball countless times for his team.
Callum McGregor: 7.5
Never stopped moving all game and barely put a foot wrong. His passing was quick and sharp all game.
Ryan Christie: 7
Did well to keep his composure and fire home for the all important opening goal.
Timothy Weah: 7
Linked up well with Toljan down the right side well and pulled off some terrific tricks and flicks.
Scott Sinclair: 5
Didn’t quite work out for the Englishman tonight who nearly scored with a curling effort early on but definitely should have netted after a delightful ball from Christie set him clear through.
Oliver Burke: 7
Lead the line tirelessly chasing down everything. Deserved his goal for his effort and a good runs in behind.
(SUB) Mikey Johnston: 6
Replaced Sinclair wide on the left and looked bright in his short time on the pitch.
(SUB) Jonny Hayes: 4
Went to left back to replace the injured Izaguirre but looked rusty with a few poor passes.
Nir Bitton: 6
Slipped back into centre half to allow Boyata a rest. Kept the ball well late on.
