Andrew Gutman has sealed a loan move to Charlotte Independence, where he’ll work under the guidance of former Celtic coach Jim McGuinness.
As reported by the Charlotte Post, the full-back has secured a move to the American club following the collapse of the deal that would have taken him to Nashville on loan.
The deal to join Nashville was agreed but the MLS would not sanction the move and as such, it fell through.
The American will now join up with the USL Championship side and work under McGuinness, who was at Celtic as a coach for three years between 2012 and 2015. He then moved to China and is now the head coach of the Charlotte Independence.
When asked about his move to Charlotte, Gutman said:
There is a good connection between Jim, the head coach here – he is a former Celtic coach. I decided this was the best way to get better and develop more and hopefully get back to Celtic, but at the same time, help Charlotte as much as I can, win as many games and play the best soccer we can.
