Celtic will have every chance against Valencia in their Europa League Round-of-32 first leg match on Thursday evening.
After initial reports that star forward Santi Mina would be unavailable after sustaining an ankle injury, it has emerged that January signing Facundo Roncaglia will also be unable to take to the pitch on Valentine’s Day (much to the delight of his significant other, I’m sure…).
Loaned in from La Liga rivals Celta Vigo, the 32-year-old has made just the one appearance for Valencia, but was tipped to play a big role in their European campaign.
The Daily Record claim that the Spanish outfit were stunned to discover Roncaglia is suspended for the next two UEFA games he is eligible for, stemming from an incident two years ago when the veteran was sent off for a clash with Manchester United’s Eric Bailly.
This will come as welcome news for Brendan Rodgers and the Hoops faithful, who must be all the more confident of their team’s chances of progressing to the next round.
