Promising Celtic youngster Karamoko Dembele is now eligible to play for the club’s first-team after celebrating his 16th birthday on Friday.
According to The Daily Record, Scottish rules dictate that a player who has not yet reached school leaving age is not able to be registered for first-team football.
Dembele has now reached said age and will be available for selection, should Brendan Rodgers decide to bring him into the first-team set-up this season.
The teenager signed his first professional contract with Celtic back in December, with the club keen to tie him down to a long-term deal.
He made a name for himself early on in his ‘career’ as he played for Celtic’s under-20 side at the age of just 13, which attracted a lot of attention from media outlets at the time.
Three years on and he could now make his senior debut for Celtic this season if he is given the chance.
