Celtic fans are growing increasingly worried about the future of Brendan Rodgers this morning, with many journalists reporting that Premier League side Leicester City are preparing a large offer for his services.

The sacking of Claude Puel on Sunday led to an almost immediate installing of the Northern Irishman as the favourite for the job. The Frenchman had overseen a very poor run of results, despite some terrific performances at Anfield and at home to Chelsea and Manchester City.
It seems that every time a manager in the English top flight loses their job, Rodgers is one of the favourites to take over. His time down south with Swansea and Liverpool are always looked upon favourably by many, despite losing his job at Anfield where he was as close as any manager in the last 30 years to winning the title.
Many uneducated fans and commentators south of the border will claim that this is a step up for him, due to the quality of the league. Most right minded people would, however, need to concede that Glasgow Celtic are one of the biggest clubs in the UK and Leicester City remain very much a mid-table side.

Winning trophies has become a habit for the man from Northern Ireland, and he has made no secret of the fact that managing his boyhood club is his dream job. He is Celtic through and through, something which is a huge advantage for the club at this moment in time.
Before he became Celtic manager, many fans could not believe that someone with his standing in the game would come up here. If we think back to the time when he was appointed as first team coach, there was delirium within the support. Thousands turned up at Celtic Park to welcome him, something which we probably haven’t seen before.

It cannot be denied that he would have significantly more money to spend, and would be pitting his wits against the best managers on the planet. Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino are huge names in the game and Rodgers must secretly aspire to challenge these guys again.

Despite many tempting factors, the fact remains that he is the star attraction still with the Celtic support. There are some very talented players in that dressing room, but he is the one who has the status outside and inside the club.
Would this be the case at Leicester City? This is a club who sacked their manager just months after he won the Premier League title for the first time. Untold riches are guaranteed for him, but he is already wealthy and is earning good money in Scotland.
Ultimately though, the Premier League is where it’s at now. It’s box office, millions across the globe tune in to watch every single week. While this club are not a top six contender, they possibly could be if Rodgers is given the finances afforded to previous incumbents of the manager’s office at the King Power Stadium.
We wait for any response from Celtic and their star man to these rumours, but until a firm and official offer is on the table for him the club may not say anything at all.
