Damien Duff has spoken of his excitement after stepping up to a first-team role following the departure of Brendan Rodgers.
Speaking to Celtic TV, as reported by FourFourTwo, Duff gave his thoughts on his new position.
I’m ready for it. I know the role and I know the club, and it’s a massive honour. Celtic is more than a club. Here, you’re fighting for more than that – you’re fighting for a cause as well.
I know what the club means to fans. It means the same to me, so I’m ready. I understand the club and, Celtic Football Club aside, myself and football, I’m all about emotion and enthusiasm.
Duff is part of a new-look backroom set-up at Celtic, joining John Kennedy in working alongside Neil Lennon until the end of the season.

The former Chelsea winger only joined the Hoops recently, previously working within the academy, but has quickly been drafted into a first-team role in the club’s time of need.
Lennon’s short-term reign at the club got off to a good start with a 2-1 midweek victory over Hearts. He’ll be looking to maintain Celtic’s good form when they face his former side Hibernian over the weekend.
It remains to be seen what stance Celtic will take on Lennon at the end of the season, with a permanent Rodgers replacement yet to be confirmed.
