Why has there been such an outburst of anger and disbelief from fans, media, and also big-name former players to Brendan Rodgers’ departure?
Players leave teams all the time though, right? Big money transfers are the norm and most fans accept these situations pretty quickly. When Moussa Dembele left the club on deadline day in the summer, fans were annoyed at the timing but accepted his decision as he was a young man going back to his home country for a huge fee.

Dembele has since aimed several tweets at his former manager’s decision to leave. While he hasn’t made any comment on the matter, it is clear that he feels there is a certain irony to Rodgers’ decision, given how the manager portrayed the Frenchman’s behaviour back in August.
Chris Sutton is an outspoken pundit who always has Celtic at the heart of his job. His video on the day of the departure was brutally forthright and honest, claiming the timing was terrible and that the whole situation “stank”.
Bobo Balde, the man mountain centre half who played alongside Lennon and Sutton, posted a tweet on Thursday saying “no man is bigger than the club”.

John Hartson, who publicly claimed that he would have been amazed if Rodgers moved to Leicester, before having to eat his words, has also had his say. He states that the timing was woeful, and again no one person is bigger than the club.

There are many people lining up to have their say on this, but why has it struck such a chord?
Rodgers made numerous statements about Celtic being his dream job, and that he was happy as he’d ever been up here. The song about him staying for ten in a row was sung every single week, but of course, he never said that he ever would do this, so that can’t be labelled at him.
Such raw emotion across the board is quite rare, perhaps Brendan should have done what any true Celtic fan would have.
