Chris Sutton has launched a scathing rant on new Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers after he left Celtic to “downgrade” in the midst of a hotly-contested title race with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.
Celtic lead their Glaswegian rivals by eight points at the summit of the Scottish Premiership table but will now try and clinch the club’s 50th league trophy under returning caretaker boss Neil Lennon.
One pundit who has been particularly vocal over the decision is former Hoops striker Sutton, who insisted that the Celtic Reserves are bigger than the 2015-16 Premier League champions during an appearance on BT Sport this morning.
The bottom line is, if Brendan Rodgers is a Celtic fan and this is his dream job, just see it through to the end of the season. Nobody will have a problem with that. He has downsized, downgraded going to Leicester City and that is a fact. Celtic reserves are bigger than Leicester City.

Former Manchester City and England defender Joleon Lescott was also on the show and branded Sutton as “childish” following the comments.
Childish comment. No chance, that’s a childish comment. How many players in their prime would go to Celtic or Rangers? Now, currently. Would Jamie Vardy go? Jamie Vardy didn’t go to Arsenal, so he isn’t going to go to Celtic. I’m not disrespecting Celtic and saying they’re a small club, by no means.
Claude Puel was sacked by Leicester following a six-match winless run and a 4-1 defeat at home to Crystal Palace, which saw the Foxes approach Rodgers at the start of the week.
It took less than 24 hours for the switch to be completed and he’ll take charge of his new team for the first time tomorrow against Watford at Vicarage Road.
