Does Ewan Henderson have what it takes to be a future Celtic hero?
Ewan Henderson is a great young prospect who has featured in the Celtic side in the last few weeks.
The younger brother of Liam – Ewan Henderson is a central midfielder like his older brother.
He is a subject of Celtic’s youth system and has proved himself at all age groups. There is no doubt in anyone’s mind that he has the talent and determination to improve further as a player.
What he brings to the side is; great vision to find a pass, brilliant ball control and quick agility – skills that are frightening to defend against.
Throughout the years he has gained very valuable experience as a youth player. He has won the Glasgow Cup with the youth team against Rangers and has featured in the UEFA Youth League while playing some of the best youth prospects in Europe.
It has been since the New Year that he has properly made his breakthrough for the club. He made his first start for Celtic in the 4-1 win at home against Motherwell – where he bagged himself an assist and received the man of the match award.
He also started in the 2-1 win against Hearts, which was another great performance from the young playmaker.
Following the 4-0 win against St Mirren, when Ewan Henderson was brought on near the end of the match and made a brilliant pass for Timothy Weah to slot it home. His big brother Liam took to Twitter and claimed that Ewan was the best player in the family.
This will excite Celtic fans as Liam Henderson is a very good player, he was just unlucky not to cement his place in the Celtic side. He is currently on good form in Italy with Serie B outfit, Hellas Verona.
Following Ewan Henderson’s great performances, it is going to be very tough for interim manager, Neil Lennon to drop him from the side. Tom Rogic is now back in training which will prove to be a problem for the youngster as they both play the same role.
It is likely that in the Summer, Celtic will be looking to send Henderson on loan if he is not guaranteed the game-time he requires at the hoops.
It will be very interesting to see how he improves in a Celtic shirt. If he keeps going the way he is going, it is very likely that he will not just be a very important Celtic player for years to come – but also, possibly for Scotland as well.
