Lennon backed to get the Celtic job if he beats Rangers
Three points against Rangers in the Glasgow Derby could be the catalyst that sees Neil Lennon named as the new permanent Celtic manager.
That’s according to former Hoops player Marc Wilson, as reported by the Daily Record.
Speaking about the current interim boss, Wilson explains that should Lennon and Celtic go on and extend their lead at the top to 13 points before the split, it is hard to see how his former team-mate does not land the job.
If Neil had let the gap slip then maybe questions would be asked but he’s got it to 10 and if he gets it to 13 or more then he has to get the job. If he wins the Scottish Cup too then there won’t even be a discussion.
After the arrival of Steven Gerrard and the busy transfer window that Rangers enjoyed, many believed that there was a true title race this season, but the Hoops have run away with the title during the second half of the campaign.
The Hoops now remain on course for another treble-winning season and Lennon looks ready to stay for the long haul.
