McGregor wants Lennon announcement soon
Celtic’s search for their next permanent manager is set to be a competitive one, with current boss Neil Lennon reportedly up against Roberto Martinez, Andre Villas Boas, and, to a lesser extent, Rafa Benitez.
But one Celtic player, Callum McGregor, thinks the right man is already at the club in Neil Lennon.
Speaking to The Record, McGregor sees Lennon as the manager to take the club forward beyond this season – and he wants the appointment to be made ASAP.
The players and staff and everyone around the club want to know as soon as possible so you have continuity going into next season.
The sooner it gets done the better for everyone.
On Lennon staying beyond this year, McGregor said this:
There’s not many better in Europe and in league football as well. He has to have a case to get it.
This would be Neil Lennon’s second permanent spell as Celtic manager, should he get the job on a full time basis, with Lennon already achieving three league title triumphs as well as two Scottish Cups.
People will ultimately judge you on success. If we manage to do it (win titles) then he has a great shout. And he would have deserved it all as well.
Celtic currently sit top of the Scottish Premiership, 11 points clear of Rangers, as well as having a Scottish Cup Semi-Final to look forward to this weekend against Aberdeen.
