Celtic will be hoping to strengthen their squad this summer after what has been another successful domestic season.
The Hoops can still clinch the league title and the Scottish Cup to complete an incredible treble treble.
The French top flight produces some of the world’s best players and Celtic know that they need to recruit wisely if they are to succeed in European competitions next season.
Here are some French Ligue 1 players that Celtic should consider signing this summer.
Allan Saint-Maximin - OGC Nice
Saint-Maximin is one of Europe’s most exciting talents. In January, the 22-year-old winger had completed more dribbles than any player in Ligue 1. His pace and tricky footwork would suit Celtic.
Mario Balotelli - Marseille
Balotelli’s contract expires at the end of June and he is a proven goalscorer in Europe. His attitude and temperament could be an issue but if Celtic can manage to get him fully focused, then he could be a great signing for the Hoops.
Houssem Aouar - Lyon
Aouar is one of the most wanted players in Europe at the moment, so if Celtic can manage to secure his signature, it would be a huge signal of intent. The midfielder has been incredible for Lyon this season, with Pep Guardiola praising him for his performances in the Champions League against Manchester City.
Hatem Ben Arfa - Rennes
Ben Arfa’s contract expires at the end of the season and he could be a good addition to the Celtic squad. Even though he is 32 years old, he still has magic in his boots and his experience could be valuable for the Hoops in Europe next season.
Maxime Lopez - Marseille
The attacking midfielder is well known for his creativity. He’s only 21 years old but is a regular starter for Marseille. He’s been impressive this season and if a tempting offer comes in for him, then he’s unlikely to reject it.
Enock Kwateng - Nantes
The 22-year-old right-back is a regular starter for Nantes in Ligue 1 and has established himself as one of the most reliable full-backs in the league. He could also be available for free as his contract also expires at the end of this season.
Wylan Cyprien - OGC Nice
The attacking midfielder was named on the four-man shortlist for Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year in 2017. Cyprien is nicknamed ‘three lungs’ for his incredible stamina. He would be a great addition in midfield for Celtic.
