Celtic are one of the clubs said to be interested in a deal to sign MVV Maastricht defender Xavier Mbuyamba.
According to Voetbal International, the Hoops are one of several teams keeping tabs on the player.
Aged just 17, Mbuyamba is yet to put pen to paper on a professional contract and could leave the Dutch club this summer.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Portuguese giants Porto are also being credited with an interest in the player.
There is also believed to be interest from teams in the Eredivisie, with Heracles Almelo and FC Groningen said to be tracking his development.
The player’s agent has confirmed a move could be on the cards this summer.
There are several very nice options for him. We will now look at the best option and hope to have clarity soon.
The report claims that MVV Maastricht have made a contract offer to the player, but Mbuyamba has delayed making a decision on his future and was recently forced to sit on the bench as a result.
The youngster has enjoyed first-team football this season and it is believed that regular playing time will be a factor in his next move should he leave Maastricht.
Some of the best players to develop at Celtic in recent years
Moussa Dembele went from a promising young Championship striker to one of the most in-demand forwards across Europe during his time at the club.
Aiden McGeady never quite fulfilled his potential after leaving Celtic, with some questionable career choices, but what a player the Hoops had on their hands when he was playing in green and white.
Scott Sinclair went from a relatively inconsistent winger struggling to make an impact in England, to being a key figure at Celtic. Winning titles and making an impact in European competitions, it was a great turn out for the ex-Manchester City winger.
Virgil van Dijk
Perhaps the best of them all, Virgil van Dijk. Now arguably the best in the world in his position. He learnt his trade at Celtic before joining Southampton.
