According to the Football Insider, Celtic are looking to beat Chelsea in the race to sign Bolton Wanderers forward Ronan Darcy.
The report claims that the Hoops have been monitoring the teenager for a while and are now ready to step up their interest in the striker, with Chelsea’s two-window transfer ban looming.
The 18-year-old has impressed for Bolton’s Under-18s side this season and was rewarded with a first-team debut in the final game of the Championship campaign against Nottingham Forest.
Bolton are hoping to keep hold of Darcy over the summer, however, the club’s financial problems are currently a bigger priority.
If the Hoops do indeed make their interest concrete, Darcy could move to Celtic Park for an extremely cheap compensation fee.
Celtic wouldn’t have to pay as much as teams in England would for the striker, so securing the services of Darcy this summer could prove to be a shrewd piece of business further down the line.
