Celtic set for summer “clear-out”, says Brown
Scott Brown claims there will be a summer “clear-out” at Celtic, following yet another Scottish Premiership title win.
Brown lifted the trophy on Sunday after the 2-1 victory over Hearts at Parkhead, meaning the Hoops have been crowned Scottish champions eight times in a row.
It has been a glorious period of dominance, but a change in personnel now looks on the cards.
Dedryck Boyata has sealed a move to Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin, but the Belgian will be far from the only departure this summer.
The likes of Mikael Lustig, Emilio Izaguirre, Cristian Gamboa and Dorus de Vries are all out of the contract at the end of the season, while loanees including Oliver Burke and Jeremy Toljan will go back to their permanent clubs.
Speaking after the win over Heart, Brown admits the squad could look very different next season, as Celtic attempt to win nine titles on the spin:
There will be a clear-out at the end of the season and a lot of people will be leaving and there will be a lot of new faces coming in as well.
There’s a lot of lads who have been here a long time that love being here and have won a lot of trophies and I think that’s what makes this club special.
The lads have a lot of love and passion for the club and for the fans as well.
Will Celtic make it 9 titles in a row next season?
Yes
No
There is one game remaining for Celtic in 2018/19, with Hearts standing between them and a historic ‘treble treble’.
The Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park takes place on May 25th.
