Celtic have reportedly made an approach to sign Lys Mousset from Bournemouth this summer.
According to a report from Football Insider, the Hoops have been speaking to third parties about a potential deal for the French striker.
Mousset has been heavily linked with a move to Celtic in recent days and it now looks like the Scottish champions are ready to step up their interest in the player.
He has been out of favour at Bournemouth, with England international Callum Wilson very much first-choice at the Vitality Stadium.
With Mousset out of contract next summer, Celtic will be hoping that they can tempt the Premier League side into a cut-price deal to avoid losing him for nothing at the end of next season.
The French youth international arrived at Bournemouth with a lot of potential but is yet to really make the step up and could be tempted by the lure of regular first-team football elsewhere.
Alternative strikers that Celtic could sign this summer
Timothy Weah (loan)
They could use their links at PSG to re-sign Timothy Weah on another loan deal to give him a full season of first-team football in Scotland.
If Celtic are looking for another youthful French striker then Jean-Philippe Mateta could be the man for them.
Mateta, a U21 international, has been impressing in Germany recently.
If the club want to save money and go for the cheaper alternative, Lawrence Shankland could be an option as he prepares to move on from Ayr United.
The Arsenal youngster could be a different loan option, after impressing at youth level for the Gunners. He saw a Bundesliga loan fall through last January and will be eager to play.
