Gutman named in the US’ provisional Gold Cup squad
Celtic defender Andrew Gutman has been given a surprise call-up to the US national team.
According to reports, the defender has been named in the provisional 40-man senior squad for this summer’s CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Currently playing on loan at Charlotte Independence in the second tier of American soccer, the defender has been catching the eye.
Gutman joined Celtic back in January after earning rave reviews at college level in America and it’s clear that some of his performances have not gone unnoticed.
The Gold Cup kicks off in the middle of June and it would be quite the achievement for Gutman to make it to the tournament.
Should Gutman be in the Celtic squad next season?
Yes
No
Unfortunately for him, this is only the provisional squad, so he could be at risk of missing out when the final list is revealed nearer the time.
Should he miss out this time around, he certainly has time on his side at the age of just 22.
