Nick Powell edging closer to Stoke City move
Celtic look set to miss out on their pursuit of Nick Powell this summer, with the former Manchester United man set to join Stoke City.
According to Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett, the 25-year-old will be announced by the Potters at the end of the week, along with goalkeeper Adam Davies and forward Lee Gregory.
The attacking midfielder, who is also capable of turning out in a forward role, has reportedly turned down a new deal with the Latics and will become a free agent.
Powell has been heavily linked with a move to Celtic Park this summer, with rivals Rangers also showing an interest in the player.
The midfielder scored eight times in 32 appearances for Wigan this season, but it appears as if Powell won’t be heading north to Glasgow.
The Hoops are expected to be extremely busy in the transfer market this summer, and will be hoping to have better luck with another Championship midfielder in the coming months.
