AZ Alkmaar midfielder Adam Maher has become the latest player to be linked with a move to Celtic this summer, according to the Daily Record Sport.
At 25, Maher is the perfect age and has some serious recommendations from his homeland; former Hoops hero Pierre van Hooijdonk has previously said that the Dutchman was the best player in the Eredivisie.
According to the report, Maher will not be signing a new contract with Alkmaar and would therefore be available on a free transfer.
Several clubs including Queens Park Rangers and Fenerbahce have signalled him out as a potential target for next season, so whoever is to be the next Celtic manager will need to work quickly to sign the highly rated international.
Having played previously for PSV Eindoven and FC Twente he has certainly been around some top sides in his career already, but perhaps he has yet to find a club where he can truly show his potential.
Goal scoring is something he has got in his locker, with a total of 47 in 265 appearances, and with goals from midfield lacking somewhat this season for the Hoops, he could well be a shrewd addition to the side.
