Celtic are reportedly showing a real interest in Fortuna Sittard midfielder Mark Diemers.
According to Belgian news organisation Walfoot, cited by Football Scotland, the Hoops are monitoring the 25-year-old ahead of a possible summer move.
The report suggests that numerous Eredivisie clubs, Bundesliga side Freiburg and Celtic are all keen on the player following an impressive campaign.
Diemers is expected to move on from his current side this summer after playing a key role in Fortuna Sittard’s top tier survival campaign last season.
The midfielder, who has previously been linked with a move to Celtic Park, scored eight goals in all competitions and featured in all 34 Eredivisie fixtures, establishing himself as a star in the Dutch league.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon is desperate to add to his midfield options this summer, especially with French midfielder Olivier Ntcham likely to depart Celtic Park before the start of the new season.
A move for Diemers could prove to be a shrewd signing by the Hoops, however, the club will be looking to secure a deal as quickly as possible with the first-team squad returning to pre-season training next week.
