Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Dinamo Zagreb centre-back Amir Rrahmani this summer, according to the Belgian media, cited by Football Scotland.
The 25-year-old has plied his trade with Dinamo Zagreb since 2016 and is currently under contract with the club until 2021.
The Hoops are thought to be keen on the 6ft 4in defender this summer, however, Celtic officials will face a tough battle to sign the highly-rated Kosovo international.
Belgian media claim that Standard Liege and French side Amiens are also interested in the player and have already opened talks with the defender over a possible move.
Rrahmani, who has 22 senior Kosovo caps, is thought to be available for a fee around £1.2-1.7m this summer, a figure certainly in Celtic’s price range.
Neil Lennon is keen on adding to his central defensive options this summer, especially with Belgian international Dedryck Boyata moving on.
However, it appears as if a move for Rrahmani could prove tricky with two sides already in contact with the international, which could well mean that Lennon will have to look elsewhere to bring in a centre-back.
Four more central defenders Celtic could target
Celtic have been linked with a move for Barnsley’s Lindsay in the past, however, following the Tykes’ promotion to the Championship, a deal for the defender could now prove tricky.
Williams was recently released by Everton and could be a shrewd addition to the squad. The only problem could be the Welshman’s high salary.
A second loan spell at Celtic Park could be on the cards for Leicester’s Bemkovic. The 21-year-old made 27 appearances for the Hoops last season.
Millwall’s Cooper is highly-rated at The Den and could be a smart signing by Celtic. The former Reading man would also bring a towering presence to Celtic Park.
