Celtic boss Neil Lennon will allow Nir Bitton to remain at Celtic Park next season after urging the club to keep hold of the midfielder.
According to Football Insider, club officials were discussing terminating the 27-year-old’s current deal, however, Lennon has now persuaded the Hoops to keep Bitton for next season.
Bitton made just 10 appearances during Celtic’s ‘treble treble’ winning campaign last season, missing large parts with a knee problem.
And with just 12 months remaining on his current deal, club officials were thinking about terminating Bitton’s contract before Lennon stepped in.
The Israel international has plied his trade in Scotland since 2013 after joining from FC Ashdod, and it appears as if the midfielder will be given another chance to impress Lennon.
The experienced midfielder has made 181 appearances for the club during his six-year stay, and Bitton could well earn a new deal next season providing he can stay fully fit and break into Lennon’s starting line-up.
Four midfielders Celtic could bring in this summer
Welsh midfielder Vaulks could be a target for the Hoops after his impressive individual campaign with Rotherham United. A deal could also be financially realistic following the Millers’ relegation to League One.
West Brom’s Harper looks destined to move to Celtic Park this summer when his Baggies contract expires. The teenager was even present for the Hoops’ final league game against Hearts last month.
Aribo could be another to make the move north when his Charlton Atheltic deal expires next month. Celtic will have to battle rivals Rangers for the 23-year-old’s services though.
Attacking midfielder Williams has recently been released by Crystal Palace despite impressing on loan at Charlton Atheltic last season. The Welshman could be a smart addition to Neil Lennon’s squad.
