Celtic are thought to be exploring the possibility of bringing Nantes’ teenage centre-back Nathan Gassama to the club this summer.
According to Goal France, cited by Sport Witness, the Hoops, along with Southampton and Chelsea, are all tracking the defender, while Watford have made contact with the Ligue 1 side regarding the centre-back.
The towering 18-year-old is highly thought of in France and is known for his ability to play out from the back along with possessing impressive defensive capabilities.
Manager Neil Lennon looks set to be a busy man this summer and is desperate to bolster his defensive options ahead of the new season, with fellow French defender Christopher Jullien also heavily linked with a move to Scotland.
If the Hoops can get both Jullien and Gassama to Celtic Park ahead of the new campaign, along with one more experienced defender, Lennon would more than likely be content with his defensive options in Celtic’s bid for a fourth domestic ‘treble treble’.
Four more centre-backs Lennon could target
Webster was superb in the Championship for Bristol City last season under Lee Johnson. The 24-year-old could prove to be a smart addition to Lennon’s squad next season if both sides can agree a fee.
Celtic have looked at Barnsley’s Lindsay in the past and may well reignite their interest in the defender this summer.
If experience is what Lennon’s after, Chelsea’s Cahill could be just the man, however, the former England international would demand a high salary.
The Hoops could look to bring back Benkovic for a second loan spell over the summer after an impressive first stint in Scotland.
