Celtic are confident that they can sign three new players before the end of the month, according to a Football Insider report.
The Hoops are reportedly working on a number of deals as they look to reinforce their squad ahead of the upcoming Champions Legaue qualifying campaign next month.
Football Insider claim that via a club source, Celtic expect to confirm the signing of Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull soon, having already bid £3million for the 19-year old.
However, a recent tweet from Celtic’s account seems to throw that claim into doubt, with Turnbull’s agent currently playing hardball over the club’s offer. Celtic tweeted:
#CelticFC was pleased to agree a record-breaking fee with Motherwell FC for David Turnbull and we have quickly followed this up with a fantastic offer to the player through his agent.
Currently, we have been unable to come to an agreement with the player’s agent. #CelticFC is content that it has made a magnificent offer and it is now up to the agent and player to decide if the player wants to join Celtic. If not, we move on.
The Hoops have also bid for Sheffield United defender George Baldock, with the club targeting both a left-back and right-back, two centre-backs, a central midfielder and a striker.
The club are also believed to be keen on Joe Aribo and Luca Connell this month, and could make any move complete by the end of this month.
There is genuine hope from the club’s hierarchy that two new signings in addition to Turnbull can be finalised with the next fortnight, allowing them to link up with Lennon for the start of pre-season training.
