Dinamo Zagreb defender Amir Rrahmani has turned down the chance to sign for Standard Liege this summer, increasing speculation of a move to Celtic Park.
Belgian outlet La Derniere Heure, cited by Inside Futbol, claim that the Kosovo international has turned down an initial offer from the Belgian side.
They state that Standard Liege initiated talks with Rrahmani and will continue to attempt to sign the highly-rated defender in the current window.
The 25-year-old is valued in the region of around €2m by his current side and has been linked with a move to Celtic in recent weeks.
The towering 6ft 4in defender has plied his trade with Dinamo Zagreb since 2016 and is currently under contract with the club until 2021, however, his parent side would be willing to sell if their demands are met.
And with Rrahmani snubbing a move to Standard Liege, the Hoops may now firm up their interest in the player with a concrete offer to Dinamo Zagreb.
Four more defenders Celtic could target
Former Chelsea man Bruma spent the second half of the previous campaign out on loan with Schalke and the Dutch defender could be open to a loan stint in Scotland next season.
Croatia international Benkovic spent last season at Celtic Park and could be keen on another loan spell in Scotland for the upcoming campaign.
Another possible loan option, Manchester City could be willing to send the talented Garcia to Celtic Park to allow him to gain regular first-team football.
Aberdeen centre-back McKenna has been linked with a permanent move to Celtic in the past and would improve the current options available to Neil Lennon.
