Newly-promoted Serie A side Hellas Verona are reportedly set to rival Celtic in the race to land Dinamo Zagreb defender Amir Rrahmani.
Rrahmani is reportedly valued at €2 million by his current club and has been tracked by Celtic, with Dinamo Zagreb willing to sell the 25-year-old ahead of the new season.
The international defender could be just what Neil Lennon needs ahead of the new season, with the Hoops currently short on defensive numbers following the departures of senior figures Mikael Lustig and Dedryck Boyata.
Rrahmani, who stands at 6ft 4in, has European experience over the last two years and could well excel in the Scottish Premiership with his aerial presence and positional awareness.
However, Celtic will have to first firm up their interest and then fend off Hellas Verona if they are to secure Rrahmani’s services next season.
Four more defenders who could fit in at Celtic
Leicester’s Turkish defender Soyuncu has failed to break into the first-team picture at the King Power Stadium and could be a realistic loan option for the Hoops.
Nantes’ teenage defender Gassama has briefly been linked with a move to Celtic Park and could prove to be a smart signing by the Hoops in the future.
Versatile Manchester City youngster Adarabioyo enjoyed a successful loan spell with West Brom last season and could be open to a move to Scotland this summer.
Leeds captain Cooper would be an excellent addition at Celtic Park, however, with the Whites limited on defensive options themselves, a deal could prove to be difficult.
