Christie not surprised by Arsenal’s Tierney interest
He has become a key player for Celtic, despite a slow start to his career in the East End of Glasgow, and Ryan Christie is now on the brink of a return to the first team after an injury lay off.
Speaking live on Sky Sports News, the midfielder opened up about the major talking point surrounding the club at the moment – the potential loss of Kieran Tierney. Christie explains why he feels no surprise that teams like Arsenal are interested in signing his teammate:
There’s no surprise because of how good a player he is, and how well he’s played over the last couple of seasons.
The Scotland left-back is currently in Austria on pre-season duty after a double hernia operation at the end of May.
He isn’t expected to feature in the upcoming Champions League qualifier against Sarajevo, but he will be pushing to play in the second round, should Celtic progress.
Christie added:
He’s a player I’m sure the club will be desperate to keep because of how much attacking quality he brings from a defensive area from left-back, and hopefully the club will do their utmost to keep a hold of him.
It is clear the Celtic face a battle to keep the fans’ favourite, and from his team-mate’s point of view, they will be hoping he is in the team as soon as possible.
