Over the years, there have been some phenomenal midfielders who have worn the green and white hoops of Glasgow.

There have been playmakers with such skill and awareness with the ball like Lubo Moravcik and Shunsuke Nakamura. You have your ball-winning midfielders like Neil Lennon, Scott Brown and Victor Wanyama. There are also those diehards Celtic fans who gave everything for the jersey; Paul McStay and Bertie Auld were great examples of this type of player.

These midfielders are only some of the greats who have played over the years, and it is very difficult to choose who the most influential actually was when they were in their prime.

Celtic are unfortunately lacking depth in the central Midfield area of the pitch for the coming season and are looking to bring more players in. David Turnbull was the main target for the Bhoys, but following a failed medical, he will not be joining the Hoops at this point in time.

Out of all the great central Midfielders of Celtic’s past, who would you like to have seen make a return for the club if they were in there prime?
