Celtic return to competitive action for the first time in six weeks as they prepare to face Bosnian side FK Sarajevo in the first qualifying round of this season’s Champions League.
Neil Lennon will take charge of his first game since being unveiled as the club’s new manager on a permanent basis.
The Hoops have gained some valuable minutes during their pre-season tour of Austria, having played three games in which a host of players have featured.
The manager will have a tough task on his hands when it comes to selecting his starting XI for Tuesday night’s game.
Bosnian champions Sarajevo have also racked up some minutes in pre-season friendlies recently. They won their first league title in four years last season by a margin of five points.
It is important that Celtic get their 2019/20 campaign off to a winning start, as well as bringing a comfortable scoreline into the second-leg next week.
Here is our Celtic predicted XI for Tuesday’s match.
GK: Scott Bain
Unlikely to be any changes to things goalkeeper wise so Scott Bain will go into the season as first-choice.
RB: Anthony Ralston
Options at right-back are currently very thin, leaving 20-year-old Ralston as the most experienced in this position.
CB: Kristoffer Ajer
The Norwegian international had a strong season and can only get better.
CB: Jozo Simunovic
Likely to partner Ajer at the back. New arrival Christopher Jullien will feature soon, but it’s likely to be too early for him to start just yet.
LB: Jonny Hayes
With Tierney continuing his recovery, Hayes is likely to step-in once more at left-back. Calvin Miller is another option but Lennon will likely look to a more experienced head for such an important game.
CM: Scott Brown
The captain will lead his side out for yet another season as they look to get off to winning ways.
CM: Callum McGregor
The versatile midfielder will be ready to return to action after making 70 competitive appearances last season.
RM: James Forrest
Will occupy the right-wing as he has done so many times before. Very likely he could pop up with a goal two days after celebrating his 28th birthday.
CAM: Ryan Christie
Could make his first competitive appearance in almost three months after recovering from a broken eye socket. Has featured in pre-season and looks ready to play.
LM: Scott Sinclair
Another who has frequently featured in pre-season. A good performance in the competitive opener could be the first of many for the winger.
ST: Odsonne Edouard
The Frenchman offers experience going into this tie. Despite Griffiths impressing in pre-season, Lennon may opt for Edouard given his fitness and physicality.
