Celtic have surprisingly reignited their interest in Sheffield United right-back George Baldock, according to Football Insider.
The report suggests that the Hoops are back in for the 26-year-old, with Neil Lennon hoping to sign at least two new right-backs over the coming weeks.
Baldock was the subject of a £3 million bid from Celtic last month, however, the Blades decided to turn the offer down in hope of tieing the player down to a new deal.
Unfortuanlty for boss Chris Wilder, Baldock has yet to sign a new contract at Bramall Lane, which could see the Blades cash in on the full-back before the window closes.
Baldock has just 12 months left on his current Sheffield United deal, so if the player wants to leave, the Hoops may not have to add too much to their initial £3 million offer.
Lennon is hoping to land Baldock to fill the void left by Mikael Lustig, with Huddersfield Town right-back Tommy Smith also thought to be of interest to the Northen Irishman.
Why Baldock should make the move to Celtic Park
First-choice under Lennon
Baldock would more than likely be first-choice for the Hoops if he made the move north after helping the Blades earn promotion last season. If he stayed in Yorkshire, he could find himself struggling for minutes if Chris Wilder decided to bring in another right-back.
The 26-year-old would have the chance to test himself in Europe, something Sheffield United can’t currently offer the player.
Chance to win regular silverware
Celtic are known for their habit of winning trophies on a regular basis. Baldock could be part of a side looking to win a fourth domestic treble in a row.
Celtic, as we all know, is a huge club. Baldock would be silly if he wasn’t interested in a move to Scotland to wear the green and white.
