Celtic’s search for a new right-back is set to continue as Huddersfield Town’s Tommy Smith as seemingly rejected a move to the Scottish Champions.
According to the Daily Record, Smith has decided to join fellow Championship side Stoke City, with the Potters agreeing a fee with Terriers on Wednesday.
Smith was spotted leaving Huddersfield’s Austrian training camp on Wednesday and speculation about him heading to Glasgow continued to grow.
However, it has been revealed that the 27-year-old was actually on his way to complete a deal to sign for Nathan Jones’ side.
As it stands, Anthony Ralston is the only recognised right back in the Celtic squad, so reinforcements are definitely needed ahead of the new season.
However, with Smith now looking like he’ll be announced as a Stoke player some time on Thursday, Neil Lennon and his scouting network will need to look for an alternative option, with Sheffield United’s George Baldock one possible option.
