Former Celtic star Kayal discussing Hoops move with Abd Elhamed
Former Celtic midfielder Beram Kayal has revealed the surprise role he is playing in a potential deal for the Hoops to sign Hatem Abd Elhamed.
Speaking to Record Sport, as cited on Football Scotland, the now Brighton midfielder confirmed that he has spoken to his close friend about a potential move to Scotland.
Previous reports have suggested that Abd Elhamed is closing in on a move to join Neil Lennon’s side, providing that any potential work permit problems are avoided along the way.
A £1.6 million deal is believed to be close and Kayal has explained why he thinks the player should complete a move this summer.
This is a big opportunity for Hatem. I’m so happy for him to get the chance to join a big club like Celtic. Obviously he asked me for advice because I would class him as a friend.
What did I say to him? I told him that it will probably be the best day of his life when he signs for Celtic. He’s a really good player and, most importantly, he’s ready to be a Celtic player.
The versatile defender is expected to sign a four-year contract with Celtic as Lennon continues to spend on his squad this summer.
The Israel international will join the club with a wealth of experience under his belt and helps to fill the void left by Mikael Lustig.
