Celtic have reportedly accepted that long-term target Romaine Sawyers will stay in England this summer, according to Football Insider, cited by Vital Celtic.
The report suggests that the Hoops have conceded defeat in their pursuit of the 27-year-old, with Championship heavyweights Leeds United and West Brom extremely interested in the Brentford star.
Celtic had made a bid in the region of £2 million for the Saint Kitts and Nevis international, which was swiftly rejected by the Bees.
Neil Lennon has already made three summer signings, with defenders Christopher Jullien and Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo and midfielder Luca Connell making the move to Celtic Park.
Israel defender Hatem Abd Elhamed looks set to be the Northern Irishman’s fourth addition ahead of the new season, however, Lennon is still keen on adding to his options further forward.
It appears as if Sawyers won’t be making the move north, with Celtic seemingly giving up in their pursuit of the box-to-box midfielder.
