Celtic may be closing in on a deal to sign Hatem Abd Elhamed, but Neil Lennon remains keen to sign another defender.
According to Herald Scotland, the Celtic boss wants to add another right-back to his ranks this summer as the club look to replace Mikael Lustig before the start of the new campaign.
Abd Elhamed is poised to join Celtic in a £1.6m deal after being granted a work permit ahead of a move from Hapoel Be’er Sheva.
Lennon revealed that Danny Simpson would not be joining the club, despite the Hoops having a trial lined up for the former Premier League winner.
Simpson left Leicester at the end of last season after seeing his contract expire, but it seems that Celtic are keen to explore other options this summer.
Given that Hatem Abd Elhamed is 28 years of age and a fairly experienced option at the back, Lennon could perhaps look to a younger player to provide further competition.
