Neil Lennon watches Strahinja Pavlovic – should the Hoops make a move?

Celtic are reportedly monitoring Partizan Belgrade defender Strahinja Pavlovic – but should the Hoops now make a move for the youngster?

According to Football Scotland, Neil Lennon watched the towering centre-back on Thursday in Wales as Belgrade defeated Connah’s Quay Nomads 1-0 in a Europa League qualifier.

The teenager stands at 6ft 4in and only made his first-team debut back in February, however, he appears to have all the qualities needed to become a top centre-back.

Pavlovic, who was previously linked with a move to Juventus, is good in the air and strong in the tackle, two attributes which are a must to succeed at the top level as a defender.

Hoops boss Lennon is still looking to bolster his defensive options ahead of the new season despite bringing in three additions at the back.

A move for Pavlovic could prove to be a shrewd piece of business. The teenager will only get better with more senior experience and could shine in the Scottish Premiership with Celtic.

However, the Serbian has two years left on his current Belgrade deal, and with Pavlovic regarded as a future star, the club may well have to write another six-figure check for the teenager’s services.
