It’s easy to understand why Celtic supporters aren’t happy at the moment as their club have been knocked out of the Champions League after losing 4-3 at home to Cluj.
As is often the case on social media, some fans have been venting their anger and frustration and one Celtic player who has been the focus of some negative attention is Scott Brown.
The Celtic skipper gave away what turned out to be a crucial penalty kick thanks to a handball and these Hoops fans were quick to give their reaction to his performance.
As for Scott Brown…… ?

What’s Scott Brown thinking btw?

Scott brown should be ashamed of himself. Total sold the jersey tonight.

The blame majorly lies with Scott Brown. Been saying it for a year at least now, not my captain anyway.

OK most has been pointed out.
Scott Brown is done. Legs were totally gone!!

Meanwhile, these fans want the captain to have his role reduced to a bit-part one this season.
I love Scott Brown but he should only be making cameo appearances this season because he's done. Callum McGregor and Ntcham should have started tonight with Hayes at left back. Still can't believe the team selection.

Its time for Scott Brown to take a much reduced role, Cal Mac should be the holding player with christie and ntcham infront. Problem is under Lennon this won't happen as he is enamored with Brown.

Read Celtic Verdict
Brown’s handball was bizarre and we can only put it down to a rush of blood in a pressurised situation. Plenty of great footballers have had moments of madness and that was certainly one from Brown.
However, that aside, what was more worrying was how the Celtic captain looked half a yard short on numerous occasions.
Aged 34, we can’t expect Brown to be as full of energy as he once was but it was a bit jarring to see him look so off the pace against Cluj.
If that is now his level, which would be understandable, the Neil Lennon must consider using him in a reduced role going forwards.
