Celtic have suffered a potential setback in their pursuit of Kilmarnock duo Greg Taylor and Stephen O’Donnell, so should they turn their attention elsewhere?
The pair have both been linked with respective moves to Parkhead this summer, as Celtic continue to be linked with defensive signings, however according to the Scotsman, Killie manager Angelo Alessio has stated his desire to keep hold of the duo.
I want to keep the best players in our team: Taylor, O’Donnell and other players. In the next two weeks I don’t think this player can go to other teams. I’ve read about Greg but I think they are just rumours. I don’t think (the club would sell him) because the club and I want to keep the best player in our team.

So would Celtic be better suited turning their attention elsewhere?

It would appear a better option for Celtic to look at alternative targets. Killie will know how keen the Hoops are to strengthen their defensive options before next month’s deadline, and have also stated their desire to keep their best players at the club.
Therefore the respective prices of O’Donnell and Taylor will increase as a result, and the last thing Celtic need to do now is panic and overpay for new signings.
Reports suggest the Hoops already have irons in the fire with regards to alternative targets, with both Robert Gumny and Birger Meling linked with a move to Parkhead recently.
