Kristoffer Ajer signing a new contract at Celtic would be a huge positive, following a disappointing week at Parkhead.
According to the Daily Record, the Hoops will “open contract talks” with the young centre-back imminently, “in a bid to tie down one of the club’s the top talents.”
Ajer has been linked with a summer move to AC Milan, but Neil Lennon is adamant that he wants him to stay put.
The defender has become a key man at Celtic since joining from IK Start back in 2016, maturing all the time as a player.

It’s difficult to find anything other than positives with the news of Ajer’s likely new contract.
The 21-year-old has been largely superb in a Celtic shirt, particularly in the last 12 months, and his potential is great.
For the Hoops to tie him down to a new deal is a statement of intent, at a time when the club could do with feeling like it still belongs at football’s top table.
Tuesday’s shock Champions League exit at the hands of CFR Cluj was one of Celtic’s lowest moments in recent times, but this Ajer news should at least help cushion that blow a little.
