Chris Sutton has labelled one Celtic supporter an “idiot” for suggesting that Neil Lennon should be sacked following a tough week for the Hoops.

The former Celtic man was responding to a text message sent to BBC 5 Live Sport, suggesting the Hoops lacked desire against Dunfermline in the Scottish League Cup tie on Saturday and that Lennon should be given the sack.

In his response, Sutton first interrupted Alistair Bruce-Ball when he was reading out the message, rubbishing the supporters claim about Celtic showing no “passion.”

Hang on a minute, no I’m not going to let you finish here. No passion? Rubbish.

Bruce-ball continued to read out the rest of the message, which suggested Lennon should be sacked straight away, and Sutton simply replied by labelling the supporter in idiot.

You’re an idiot.

Sutton did, however, agree with the supporters claim that the squad needs to be looked at and investment needs to be made.

I think the board are to blame. The last two or three transfer windows have been a disaster, and they need to invest in the playing squad.

Should Lennon be sacked already?

Yes

No

READ CELTIC VERDICT

While it has certainly not been the best week for Celtic following the embarrassment in the Champions League, to call for Lennon to be sacked this early in the season does appear to be slightly harsh.
