Celtic supporters were in awe of another brilliant performance from Kristoffer Ajer on Thursday, as the defender produced an excellent display against AIK.

Filling in at right-back in the absence of Hatem Abd Elhamed, Ajer continued his fine start to the season as Celtic beat their Swedish counterparts 2-0 in the Europa League play-off first leg.

And following the result, these supporters were quick to share their delight with his performance on social media, with one fan in particular suggesting Ajer will be Celtic’s captain and manager at some point in the future.

I’ve certainly seen nothing to suggest why Ajer wouldn’t make a brilliant captain for Celtic in the absence of Scott Brown.

He has been one of the best and most consistent performers so far this season, and his versatility at the back is proving to be incredibly useful.

The only negative from him performing well will be the interest he draws from other teams. Interest was reportedly high in him throughout the summer, and clubs will no doubt return to pursue a move either in January or at the end of the season.

Will Ajer be future Celtic captain?
