Celtic to focus on Meling after snubbing Killie’s asking price for Taylor – Who would be the better signing?

Celtic have turned their focus to Birger Meling after Kilmarnock demanded £3million for Greg Taylor following the Hoops’ enquiry, but who would be the better signing?

According to the Daily Record, Celtic will now pursue to Meling as they are not willing to meet Killie’s asking price for Taylor .

The Hoops were said to be willing to offer £1million for the left-back and include players on loan in the deal, but Taylor is valued at a fee of £3million by Killie.

So who would be the better signing?

While it is a tough comparison to make and a difficult claim to make, on paper Meling would appear the better suited to playing for Celtic.

The Norway international has played 10 times for his country compared to Taylor’s one appearance for Scotland, while also featuring 32 times for Rosenborg and Stabaeck Football in European competitions respectively; experience which will no doubt bolster Celtic’s chances in Europe.

Taylor meanwhile has played just twice in Killie’s Europa League qualifiers earlier this season. Though he is three years younger than Meling and has potential to improve, Celtic need to add ready-made players with experience to their squad, and Meling would provide that.
