Zenit St Petersburg are said to have cooled their interest in Kristoffer Ajer following Celtic’s valuation of the defender, and the Hoops need to do all they can to keep him at the club.
According to Sport Witness, via Russian outlet Championat, Zenit were keen on a move for Ajer and are said to have made an enquiry over the availability of the 21-year-old.
However, the Russian side have now turned their attention elsewhere after being knocked back by Celtic’s valuation, though the report does not state how much the Hoops were said to be demanding.

Ajer has arguably been one of Celtic’s most impressive players so far this season, and it is imperative that the Hoops keep hold of him as long a possible.
The 21-year-old has featured in 10 or Celtic’s 11 games in all competitions this season, scoring twice, with his versatility allowing him to shine both at centre-back and right-back.
The Norwegian signed a new contract in May last year, and Celtic must look to extend his deal at the soonest opportunity in order to tie him down.
