Supporters react to tough Europa League group for Celtic

Celtic have been handed a tricky looking Europa League group stage draw following Thursday’s play-off victory over AIK, and supporters have offered mixed reactions.

Goals from James Forrest, Christopher Jullien, Lewis Morgan and an own goal from AIK goalkeeper Oscar Linner gave Celtic a comfortable 4-1 victory over the Swedish side to complete a 6-1 aggregate win.

The Hoops were drawn into Group E to face Lazio, Stade Rennes and a chance for revenge against CFR Cluj following the Champions League third round qualifier, and these supporters have offered mixed reactions to the draw.

There’s no denying it, Celtic have been handed a tricky looking draw for this year’s Europa League, but the Hoops still have a chance.

Lazio will arguably pose the biggest threat to Neil Lennon’s side, and the Italian side began the Serie A season well with a 3-0 victory away to Sampdoria. 

Stade Rennais meanwhile should certainly not be underestimated, and the French side are currently top of Ligue 1 following three wins from their opening three games, including a brilliant 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain.

The chance for revenge against Cluj is certainly Celtic’s best chance of getting six points on the board, however we have already seen what can happen against the Romanian side when they are not taken seriously.

So a tough group for the Hoops, but anything can happen under the lights at Paradise.
