Frimpong on verge of completing Celtic move – is it a good signing?

Manchester City right-back Jeremie Frimpong is poised to sign a four-year deal with Celtic.

According to The Athletic journalist Kieran Devlin, Frimpong is currently traveling to Scotland to sign his contract and complete his move to the club.

It is claimed that he rejected a contract offer from Manchester City this summer, after being highly rated in the Premier League champions’ academy.

Will Frimpong be a good signing for Celtic? 

If he was highly rated in Manchester City’s academy, he certainly has a good chance – given the standards set at the Premier League club. The likes of Phil Foden and Jadon Sancho are some of the talented players who have passed through their academy in recent years. 

It also makes sense for Celtic, as they bring in a right-back to potentially take the number two shirt in the coming years. Bauer has been brought in on loan from Stoke, which means that the signing of Frimpong could have been made with a view to him replacing Bauer in the first-team squad next summer.

For now, Frimpong may have to impress in the under-23 side or in the cup competitions before being handed his league debut by Neil Lennon.
