Celtic have been handed a potential injury blow for the Europa League opener against Stade Rennais as Kristoffer Ajer pulls out of Norway’s Euro 2020 qualifiers, so who could potentially replace him?
According to the Herald, Ajer has withdrawn from the Norway squad with a groin problem that will keep him sidelined for up to two weeks, which could make him a doubt for the tie against Stade Rennais.

Ajer’s potential absence will no doubt be a blow, but Celtic did see of Rangers in the Glasgow Derby with the Norwegian sidelined.
Following the summer transfer window, Lennon has a number of options to choose from when considering who he could start as Ajer’s replacement.
The most likely scenario will see Jozo Simunovic come in as a like-for-like replacement for Ajer, but Hatem Abd Elhamed could also be deployed at the back.
That move would see Moritz Bauer come in at right-back to make his first start for Celtic after his debut last weekend.
Lennon would also have new Bhoys Jeremie Frimpong and Lee O’Connor available, though given their respective lack of experience that would be appear too much of a risk.
