McGregor talks up CFR Cluj revenge – Why his comments are a positive

Callum McGregor has opened up about being drawn against CFR Cluj in the group stages of the Europa League, and his comments bode well for the Hoops.

Speaking to the Celtic View, McGregor talked about the prospect of facing Lazio, Stade Rennais and Cluj in the group stages, and suggested Celtic are fully focused on gaining revenge against the Romanian side.

It was inevitable that we were going to get them again, and it’s a good thing that we can go and almost set the record straight in terms of us owing them a performance and a result.

I’m sure it’s one that the players and fans will want to try and settle that score in. We know all about their team, and likewise, they know about us, but we’re confident that we can get the right results against them this time around.

The fact that McGregor has spoken so openly about looking for revenge against Cluj following the Champions League exit suggests the squad are all relishing the chance to get back at the Romanian side.

Targeting victories in both games against Dan Petrescu’s men in the group stages is a must if Celtic are to stand a chance of qualifying for the knockout round, and McGregor suggests the squad will be fully focused on doing just that.
