Former Celtic midfielder Kris Commons has suggested that Scotland need Scott Brown to improve their team.
Commons says that Brown is the missing link in Scotland’s midfield and would be able to dictate the play from the middle of the park.
Speaking to FootballScotland about the national team, Commons said this:
There is some top, top players in that dressing room. Real good players, experienced players.
You need, and I’ll throw his name in there, someone like Scott Brown in the middle of the park.
Someone who will dictate how the game is played. I think there were too many players on Friday night who just let the game get away from them.

Does Commons have a point?
On the basis of Scotland’s loss to Russia, quite possibly. The midfield looked far too erratic, with Scott McTominay, John McGinn and Callum McGregor failing to impose themselves on the game.
The trio all struggled to deal with Russia’s movement off the ball and lacked the ability to beat their press, often giving the ball away under pressure.
Bringing someone of Brown’s experience into the mix could settle down the midfield and allow more time on the ball for the likes of McGinn and McGregor to show off the creative side of their game.
Will it happen? It looks unlikely, but you can never rule anything out in football.
