On the day, the new recruits may just have shown they have what it takes to play for Celtic after all. In the case of Fraser Forster of course, that was no surprise. While Gordon is no doubt a good goalkeeper, Hay’s point is spot on and Forster’s return to Parkhead could prove to be crucial for Celtic this season.
The 31-year-old has produced on the big occasion for the Hoops before, and will no doubt be called upon throughout the campaign as Celtic go in search of a fourth consecutive treble and success in Europe.
Bain had looked shaky prior to Forster’s arrival and Lennon clearly saw an issue in the keeping department. Re-signing the Southampton man therefore could turn out to be a vital piece of business at the end of the season.
