Hatem Abd Elhamed believes he has the ability to play in any role across a back four, and he must surely be considered as one of Celtic’s best signing’s this summer.
According to the Daily Record, Elhamed has revealed that he has the ability to be able to play in every position in defence, after being deployed as a centre-back and a left-back for Israel during the international break.
I was in the middle with Israel and also played for 45 minutes at left-back against Slovenia. I feel I am capable of playing anywhere in defence. It doesn’t matter to me whether it is right-back, left-back or central defence.
I’m confident I can make the right decisions regardless of what position I play in. I felt I did well for the national team and it has been a good start so far for Celtic. I’m happy to switch positions.
So why does this make him a strong contender for signing of the summer?

While it is still incredibly early in his Celtic career, Elhamed has adjusted to life at Parkhead with aplomb.
He has been a figure of consistency at right-back for the Hoops, and also looked comfortable filling in for the injured Nir Bitton at centre-back in the second-half of the Glasgow Derby.
And while we are yet to see him play at left-back for Celtic, based on how well he performs in the previous two roles, there is no reason to suggest why he would not be equally as effective on the left.
Acquiring a player of Elhamed’s quality for just £1.6million, therefore, was brilliant business from Celtic and must be a considered as one of their signings of the summer.
Not only is he an Israel international, he has already shown he has the ability and mentality required to succeed at Parkhead, following his display at Ibrox, whilst he also offers cover in every defensive position.
